The term chronograph does not solely relate to the style of the watch but it also describes the function of the watch. A chronograph watch can measure periods of time. Basically, chronographs have a time recorder function on the watch, usually a stopwatch or they can make other calculations such as measuring speed or distance.

Due to this feature, chronograph watches normally have push-pieces on the side of the dial, sub-dials on the watch face and multiple hands. Therefore, chronograph dials have a more detailed appearance. Chronograph watches usually display the date as well as the time. Popular luxury chronograph watches include the Rolex Daytona, the Omega Speedmaster and the TAG Heuer Carrera. Although, a huge number of luxury watches, particularly diving, aviation and racing watches have chronograph features.
